Trip Details

DAY 1: Arrival at the lodge in Moshi a day before the start of climbing for a pre-climb briefing, equipment checks and for a checkup of mandatory medical requirement and travel insurance.

DAY 2: Through the entrance gate of Machame National Park (5,400 feet), we will start trekking through the beautiful and lush forest.

DAY 3: We will trail hike steadily through rocky hills with wide views of the Shira Plateau (11,000 ft) & the magnificent views of Mt. Meru.

DAY 4: We will continue to climb and have lunch near Lava Tower (15,150 ft). After a day’s walk, we will camp at the spectacular Barranco Camp.

DAY 5: A steep trekking up to the south-eastern side of Kibo and then camp at Karanga Camp (13,100 ft), the last water point on the way to the peak.

DAY 6: We walk slowly to reach the Barafu Hut (14,800 ft) for lunch. The rest of the day is spent resting to prepare for the last morning climb.

DAY 7: Around 1 am, we will begin the last journey with light by slowly walking in the dark to reach the rim of the Stella Point (18,800 ft). We will rest to enjoy the spectacular sunrise over Mawenzi. Those who are still feeling strong can climb for a three-hour trip to Uhuru Peak (19,341 feet). After the summit, we will retrace our steps along the crater rim to Stella Point and then to Barafu Camp for a short break, then we will continue to Millenium Camp (12,500 ft).

DAY 8: After breakfast, departure to the Kilimanjaro International Airport
